About Maggie
I grew up in Kent, Ohio, a small college town in a large Irish family. As the oldest of fourteen children I was forced at an early age to be responsible, resourceful, and to acquire patience. These skills have been integral in my pursuance of my passion in the creative and arts field.
After I married and moved to West Virginia and started a family, I earned a degree in Interior Design. Pursuant to the degree I opened a design firm that encouraged and allowed me to view and create every room into its own unique canvas.
In 2007 I moved to the Western North Carolina area to be close to my grandchildren and I began to focus my creative energies into turning those artistic abilities onto paper. I began with painting, drawing, pastels, and have grown into doing some encaustic and cold wax oil work.
My art ranges from representational to abstract compositions. My style is ever evolving, I tend to paint colors boldly with line and texture marks for maximum impact.
I continue to learn and perfect my art in my journey of creativity.
I equate my art to butterflies, they symbolize change, metamorphosis and growing.
